SPA-H belongs to weathering steel, specifically designed to withstand atmospheric corrosion, commonly used in applications such as containers. SPA-H weathering steel exhibits excellent resistance to atmospheric corrosion and possesses characteristics like high temperature resistance, abrasion resistance, formability, fatigue resistance, strength, toughness, and ductility. It can be used exposed, reduced in thickness, or with simplified coating.

SPA-H is a type of weathering steel designated by the Japanese grade SPA-H. It conforms to the Japanese standard JIS G3125-2004 "High Weatherability Rolled Steel." Steel plates for containers typically have a yield strength of approximately 300 MPa. SPA-H weathering steel, with its composition including reasonable additions of Cu, P, Cr, and Ni to low-carbon steel, achieves a yield strength ranging from 390 to 439 MPa. This steel exhibits strong corrosion resistance and is suitable for manufacturing containers. In container manufacturing, structural components and outer panels are often made using hot-rolled thin steel plates with compressive strength levels above 345 MPa, ensuring excellent atmospheric corrosion resistance.
